Sindh Co-Operative Credit Society Ltd. was founded in Vadodara on 16 February 1974 by 14 founder members, under registration number Se.-2788.
It was born to help Sindhi traders and the weaker sections of the community — ruined by Partition and the riots that followed — stand on their own feet again through mutual co-operation. The journey began in a small rented room and has today reached the society’s own building, Sindh Samrat Raja Dahirsen Bhavan, in Sant Kanwar Nagar, Varasiya.
Today the society serves thousands of members through savings, compulsory savings, fixed and recurring deposits, daily savings, lockers and a range of loan schemes — and supports them with education prizes for their children, bereavement assistance and a daughter-birth gift.
Our journey
As President of Sindh Co-Operative Credit Society Ltd., Varasiya, Vadodara, I humbly welcome and thank all our members, co-operators and the people of Vadodara. You have given me the opportunity to serve the society for the past thirty years.
It gives me great joy to recall that our society was founded on 16 February 1974 by 14 founder members. Its registration number is Se.-2788, and its address at registration was T-66, next to Canteen Bungalow, Sant Kanwar Colony, Vadodara.
The society was founded to lift the economically weaker members of the Sindhi community towards self-reliance. The Partition of the country hit the Sindhi community hardest, and the communal riots that followed for many years destroyed the cabins and shops of Sindhi traders and left their livelihoods in ruins.
At that time there was no one to help these traders, and the community itself was not organised. So the Sindhi community came together, raised capital through mutual co-operation and founded this society to support those in need.
The society began its work in a small rented room. Over the years, the hard work, dedication and commitment of the founders and our devoted staff — together with the boundless trust, unity and co-operation of our members — made the society steadily stronger and widened its service.
Thanks to the transparency, discipline and member-first policies of the executive committee, the society grew strong, and after years of steady progress our dream of working from our own building came true. Today the society proudly works from its own premises — a symbol of our members’ effort, trust and growth.
This achievement is not only a financial success; it is a living example of mutual trust and co-operation. The journey from a small rented room to a strong, independent institution truly bears witness to the spirit of co-operation.
Our society is moving ahead, and I pray that its future is even more secure and prosperous. I sincerely thank my fellow office-bearers and executive members for their trust and support, and our staff, who have served with diligence, enthusiasm, dedication and honesty, never counting the hours.
